The City of Kingston is a local government municipality in Melbourne’s south-east, serving a diverse community across residential, commercial and industrial areas. Its Annual Reports play a key role in communicating performance, priorities and outcomes in a clear and accountable way.

Bite has partnered with Kingston for several years, designing and producing a cohesive suite of Annual Reports. These are substantial publications – typically ranging from 176 to 230 pages, including fully formatted financial statements – requiring clarity, structure and precision.

At the core of the approach is a considered layout that brings clarity and structure to complex information. Infographics feature prominently throughout, combining iconography, charts and illustration to translate detailed data into clear, accessible insights. Authentic photography from across the Kingston municipality further grounds the content, reinforcing a strong sense of place and community.

The reports are structured around Kingston’s six strategic directions, each distinguished through a clear colour-coded system. This creates an intuitive wayfinding experience, helping readers quickly understand where they are within the document and move through content with ease.

Delivered within tight timeframes, these projects demand careful coordination from concept through to final delivery. Bite manages the process end-to-end, ensuring deadlines are consistently met and each report is delivered to a high standard.

In recent years, the reports have evolved from primarily printed publications to digital-first documents. An interactive navigation menu with hyperlinks to key sections on each page has significantly improved usability, making the web-ready PDFs easier to explore and more effective as a communication tool.

The result is a series of Annual Reports that are clear, engaging and highly usable – supporting Kingston in communicating complex information with confidence and transparency. Recent editions have been recognised with Silver Awards at the Australasian Reporting Awards.
