Free yourself from the ordinary
Bite partnered with the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) to design the Preventing Falls and Harm from Falls in Older People Best Practice Guidelines, developed for three care settings: Australian hospitals, community care and residential aged care services.
Falls are a significant cause of harm for older Australians. The guidelines translate complex clinical evidence into practical recommendations for health and aged care professionals. Bite designed and laid out the three guideline publications (ranging from 29–32 pages) and their accompanying reference documents (ranging from 206–224 pages), ensuring large volumes of detailed information were clearly structured and easy to navigate. The final publications were delivered as accessibility-compliant web-ready PDFs.
Alongside the publications, Bite designed and illustrated a suite of 16 custom icons representing key risk factors for falls. These icons were developed in tandem with three custom illustrated environments created by Bite — hospital, residential aged care and community settings — visually embedding the risk factors within realistic care environments.
The illustrations were also developed into an interactive web experience, allowing users to explore each setting and identify potential risks by clicking through the environments. By combining publication design with custom illustration and interactive digital content, Bite helped translate complex clinical guidance into a clearer and more engaging learning resource for health professionals.
